Trees Our
Heritage
Trees Our Heritage are
the most unnoticed
parts of our life.

We have taken them for
granted and ignored the
many crucial equations
of our life that comes
directly from Trees, such
as the recycling of
Carbon Dioxide into
Oxygen, production of
food, shade and building
materials to name a few.

In conjunction with the
International Children
Environmental
Conference  called
“TUNZA”  hosted by
Children of Malaysia in
Putra Jaya from 26 to 30
August 2006 under the
auspices of UNEP, TREe
Theatre Workshop
Group  organized a
Digital Photography
Competition on Trees for
Children from the age of
10 to 14 as part of the
celebration.

The objective of the
competition is to create
awareness amongst our
children about our trees,
the heritage that they
will inherit. Each entry
was accompanied with
a caption of the subject
photographed.

Participants were also
encouraged to provide
the local and scientific
names of the Trees.

All prizes was kindly

"Spreading The Tunza Spirit" Campaign in Malaysia
14 September 2008

The Tree Theatre Group delegates having returned from the Tunza
environmental conference in Norway has submitted their
post-conference project which is titled "Spreading The Tunza Spirit"
campaign in Malaysia to UNEP.

'Tunza' is a Swahili word for 'We Care' and is the word that is used by
the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) for all their Youth
and Children International Environment Conferences titles.

The children shall also be conducting workshops and talks to share
their
Tunza Conference Experiences and promote the Children's
Conference Commitment around the country

The campaign includes distributing 10,000 posters to all primary and
secondary schools in Malaysia explaining 'How To Apply As A Tunza
Conference Delegate'. The aim is to encourage as many students to
start eco-friendly projects in schools and their communities that can
qualify for the conference delegate selection process to represent the
country.

National Consumer Day  5 September 2008

The Tree Theatre Group performed 'The Last Tree on Earth' in
conjunction with the National Consumer Day Celebrations at the TNB
Hall in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur on 16th August 2008.

The eco-play tells the story of how being a smart consumer with a
'green lifestyle' helps to protect the environment. And if there is
over-consumption (leading to wastage) there might come a time
where we need to cut down too many trees for our consumption that
there might be just ONE TREE left on earth. Think about it!
